The Mission

The mission of Martin Luther School is to share the Christian faith by assisting parents in providing opportunities for spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and social growth for children in a Christ-centered environment.

Martin Luther School links faith, life, and the arts
to produce a quality education in a Christ centered environment.

At Martin Luther School, children will have the benefits of church, home and school, working hand in hand: shaping, forming and preparing students to live the Christian life. Martin Luther has a comprehensive program of classical education. That means it uses an approach to Christian education that fosters thinking skills and creativity, and that integrates the faith in a sophisticated way. Jesus Christ is proclaimed Lord and Savior through religious instruction, worship, music, drama and art. Martin Luther is distinctively Lutheran, cherishing and preserving our unique heritage as Lutheran. The school maintains a low teacher/student ratio to provide the best educational environment.

A History of LCMS Support for Quality, Lutheran Education

Lutheran schools are a Missouri Synod tradition and mission. Since its beginning in 1847, the LCMS has strongly supported its Lutheran schools. The Missouri Synod has about 2200 schools and almost 14,000 teachers. More than 200,000 children attend Lutheran elementary schools. In addition, more than 65,000 students attend early child centers and 16,000 students attend Lutheran high schools.

History of Martin Luther School

Martin Luther School opened its doors in the fall of 1995 with 44 students K-6. Bismarck/Mandan Lutheran School Association administers the school. The school is a Recognized Service Organization of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and is approved by the state of North Dakota. Our vision is to have preschool through grade 12 education opportunities in the Bismarck/Mandan communities.

  • That the child understands the nature, function, and responsibility of the Church as the Body of Christ, and willingly serves as an active member of this body.

  • That the child understands and accepts himself or herself as born in sin but redeemed by Jesus and is now a child of God, free to develop talents and abilities to their fullest.

  • That the child recognizes all people to be God's creation and shows respect, courtesy, and consideration for the rights and welfare of others.

  • That the child respects parents, teachers, pastors, and others in authority as God's representatives and appreciates the child's privileges and responsibilities as a member of an earthly family of which Christ is the Head.

  • That the child develops concerns for spiritual and material welfare of all people and shows this concern by witnessing and helping others.

  • That the child respects authority and government as God-ordained and appreciates the privilege and responsibility as a member of the school, local, state, national, and world communities.
