MAY DATES TO REMEMBER

ABC CARE
There will be no after school ABC Care on Thursday, May 24. There will be morning ABC Care. Final ABC Care bills for May will be mailed to you.

MENU CHANGE
The menu for Tuesday, May 22 will be Cook's Choice.

KEEP COLLECTING
Just a reminder to keep collecting Campbell's Soup UPC labels and Box Tops for Education box tops for the summer months. Thank you!

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL
The last day of school will be Thursday, May 24 with dismissal at approximately 11:30a.m. There will be no after school care on this day, so please make other arrangements.

AWARDS
The awards assembly for students in K-2 will be Wednesday, May 23 at 9:30 and for students in 3-8 at 10:30. Parents are invited to attend.

CLOSING CHAPEL
KINDERGARTEN GRADUATION

Closing chapel service is Thursday morning , May 24 at 10:00 with kindergarten graduation to follow. There will be a reception following graduation for the graduates and their families.

PRAYER FAMILIES
This will be the last Purple Note for the 2006-07 school year. God's blessings to each and everyone of you and may you have a safe and enjoyable summer.

CHAPEL
Chapel services are held Friday mornings at 8:30. Pastor Marcis from Zion Lutheran Church will lead the service. Fourth quarter chapel offerings will benefit a children's orphanage in Kenya.

CHOIR CONCERT
The final choir concert for the year is scheduled for Tuesday evening, May 22 at 7:00. All students will be singing at this final concert.

LUTHER ACADEMY OF MUSIC
You are invited to the Luther Academy of Music recital Thursday evening, May 17 at 7:00, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Mandan.

TUITION
As the year comes to an end, please stop by the office and check with Mrs. Thornton as to what is owed on your tuition account. We ask that all tuition be paid in full by the end of May. Thank you.

CLASS PICTURES
Please stop by the school office this week to pick up your child's class pictures. They will be available through this week. Pictures are $6.00 and checks should be made payable to Robert Knutson Photography.


SUMMER SCHOOL
Martin Luther School will be offering a math and reading summer session Monday through Friday mornings from 8:00-11:30 during the month of June. There will be one section offered for students going in to the second or third grade and one section for students going into the fourth or fifth grade. Registration is limited to 15 students per class. The fee is $300 for the month with a $20 registration fee. This is a great opportunity to sharpen math and reading skills. Register by calling the school office at 224-9070 this week.

STUDENT RECRUITING
We are always looking for ways to recruit new families to Martin Luther School. We also recognize that you are our best recruiters. Therefore, the Board of Directors is excited to offer an incentive for recruitment. Every family that you are responsible for bringing to the school that registers a child in grades one through eight and enters classes in the fall we will take $500 off your tuition bill at the end of the year. This is an experiment that has been very successful at other schools, and we hope it will be here as well. Happy Recruiting!

ZION VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Zion Vacation Bible School is in need of some stick horses for this Sunday. If you could borrow us one, please contact Mrs. Fuchs (sixth grade teacher). Horses will be returned on Monday.

EIGHTH GRADE GRADUATION
Eighth grade graduation is scheduled for Wednesday, May 23 at 2:15p.m. There will be a reception following graduation for the graduates and their families.

STUDENT MEDICINE
If you have any medicine in the school office that was administered to your child during the school year, please stop by and pick it up before the end of the year. Any medicine that is left will be disposed of. Thank you.

SUMMER GUITAR LESSONS

HELP NEEDED
Looking for first grade parents to help with the kindergarten graduation reception. Please contact Mrs. Baneck if you can help.

TRACK AND FIELD
Track and field for the kindergarten through second grade is scheduled for Friday, May 18 (12:30-2:30) at Sertoma Shelters 1, 2, and 3 and the third through eighth graders on Monday, May 21 (noon to 3:00) at the Community Bowl.

LOST AND FOUND
Please check lost and found (by sixth grade room ) for any items that you may have lost. Anything left in lost and found at the end of the school year will be taken to Dakota Boys Ranch.

2007-08 LAM INSTRUCTORS
Martin Luther School would like to welcome/introduce the new LAM instructors for next school year.

   Denise Wolfgram   Piano Instructor

Ambria Brantner is a junior at the University of Mary. She grew up in Yakima, Washington and attended West Valley High School. She moved to Bismarck with a scholarship in track and to pursue her dreams in music. At the University of Mary, she ran track for two years and as a Vocal Performance and Music Education Major participates in Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Jazz Choir and has been a featured soloist on both University of Mary's "Evening of Opera" and "Musical Theatre at Chick's Place".

Jennifer Dallmann is a graduate of Bismarck State College and is finishing her music degree at the University of Mary. She has taught at River Bend Conservatory for two years. Jennifer will be at the recital for you to meet.

John Harr is also a student at the University of Mary and has taught at River Bend Conservatory. John has been teaching lessons here at the school since March.

Denise Wolfgram will also be teaching piano lessons next year.

Myrna Baneck and Marge Knudson will continue with piano lessons.

SUMMER OFFICE HOURS
Office hours for the summer will be Monday through Friday from 9:00a.m. to 3:00p.m.

MAYFEST MEETING
There will be a brief Mayfest meeting on Thursday, May 17 at 3:30p.m.
